4th of July Extravaganza

The fireworks show at Loma Colorado Park will be a showstopper again this year! Bring the whole family for some summer fun. Listen to some music, watch a movie, and check out the dazzling display from the best spot in the city. Blankets and coolers are permitted. Food vendors will be on-site. No glass or alcoholic beverages allowed.

Live music starts at 6:00 p.m. Fireworks display starts at 9:00 p.m.

Summer Music in the Park

Spread out your blanket and enjoy one of many musical styles including jazz, big band, folk, pop, soft rock, barbershop, and symphonic pops. Bands subject to change. Come out and enjoy the summer with the City of Rio Rancho’s Music in the Park Summer Concert Series. Admission is free. All ages are welcome. 4th of July Parade


Join us on July 4th at 10:00 a.m. in celebrating our nation’s Independence Day! Come and watch the parade, listen to music honoring our great country, and give a hand to those who have served and protected the freedoms our forefathers fought for.

Friday Night Flicks


Summer nights are meant for friends and family so why not bring everyone together for a movie at either Cabezon Park or A Park Above?  Every Friday night beginning at dusk, the Parks & Recreation team will be hosting a family friendly movie.  Just bring a blanket and snacks!  This is a weather permitting event.  Please view the Friday Night Flicks webpage for the line up of movies throughout the summer. Adult Sports 
The City of Rio Rancho has various Adult Sports leagues and tournaments throughout the year such as Softball, Flag Football, Basketball, and Co-ed Kickball. If you want to participate in one of our leagues but are in need of a team you can sign up for our free agent list where you can be picked up by an existing team or form your own.

Fitness Classes
The Rio Rancho Aquatics Center has fitness programs such as; Indoor Group Cycling, Circuit City, Yoga, Total Body Fitness, Aqua Zumba, Aqua Fitness, and Aqua Therapy. Please click on the following link for more information on Fitness Classes through the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center.

The City of Rio Rancho is excited to offer online registration for activities and events through the Parks and Recreation Department. Please click on the following link to go the Active Net online registration system. Special Olympics
The Rio Rancho Rockets first participated in the Special Olympics in 1999 with fifteen athletes enrolled. Today, there are currently more than 120 active athletes involved in the program. The athletes compete successfully in nine sports: poly-hockey, bowling, gymnastics, track and field, aquatics, bocce, basketball, volleyball and golf. Summer Camp
The City of Rio Rancho offers a high-quality Summer Camp program for children between the ages of 6 to 14. The mission of Summer Camp is to offer a safe place where children can go during summer break from school, while having a fun experience and developing new friendships. The curriculum consists of traditional and non-traditional sports, cooperative games, arts and crafts, field-trips, swimming, and other group activities. Summer Camp is staffed with experienced Camp counselors that provide a structured, safe environment. Summer Food Service Program
Beginning May 30 and ending Aug. 11, 2017, free summer meals will be provided to all children 1 to 18 years old who are present at meal service locations and in line to be served. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally funded program operated nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered at the state level by the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department. The City of Rio Rancho, which applied to be a local sponsor of the program, receives funding from the SFSP to purchase lunches and distribute them to children. Meals are prepared and purchased from Rio Rancho Public Schools and Sodexo. Please click on the following link for more information about the Summer Food Service Program.
