The Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue Department's (RRFR) Wildland Strike Team, in conjunction with other City of Rio Rancho departments, have placed signs at public access points into the Bosque within the city’s borders.
The locations for the signs were chosen due to the potential benefits for citizens and for firefighters. View a
map of sign locations.
Citizens can use the sign’s identifying numbers when they need to call 9-1-1 to help get responders to the right location in an emergency.
Firefighters can utilize the numbered access points for establishing a firefighting water supply or staging for equipment and supplies. This can be particularly important when neighboring agencies are called in to assist with large fires and are unfamiliar with common Bosque access points.
The signs were created by the City of Rio Rancho’s Public Works Department, and in coordination with the city’s Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department. The Sandoval Regional Dispatch Center (the city’s 9-1-1 operators), will also be trained on the marked Bosque access points.
