City of Rio Rancho “Precautionary Boil Water Advisory” Lifted for Water Utility Customers/Users Impacted by Water Main Break
For Immediate Release
May 24, 2013

The city of Rio Rancho’s Public Works Department has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory for all water utility customers/users who lost service as a result of a water main break that occurred near the intersection of Unser and Northern boulevards on May 22.  The city has received the results from bacteriological tests confirming that the water is safe to drink.

While all safety procedures were taken by crews while repairing the water main break and restoring water service, the precautionary advisory was issued until bacteriological tests, which take approximately 24 hours to receive the results from, confirmed that the water was safe to drink.

All of the approximately 400 customers in the area near the intersection of Northern and Unser boulevards impacted by the water main break had their service restored by 2 p.m. on May 23. It was advised as a precaution that these customers boil any water they planned to consume for 24 hours after their service was restored.
