All persons proposing to engage in business within the municipal limits of the City of Rio Rancho shall apply for a business registration and pay a non-refundable $35.00 yearly fee for each registration.

The City Clerk's Office also provides New Mexico State tax identification numbers for new businesses.  The forms can be picked up in the office and will be mailed to the IRS.

Please take completed business registration paperwork to the City Clerk's Office in Rio Rancho City Hall, room 150

Any company doing business from a commercial location within the municipal limits of the City of Rio Rancho.

Paperwork needed:

• Completed Business Registration Application
• Fire inspection - Call 505-891-5916 to schedule inspection.
• All applicable licensing or permits needed for the business (i.e. State issued licenses, permits, etc.)

*Completed Business Registration application must be signed off by the Development Services Department in City Hall, room 130, prior to issuing a registration. 

Any business that uses a residential address, within the municipal limits of the City of Rio Rancho, as the address of the business whether or not business will actually be conducted at the residence.

Paperwork needed:

• Completed Business Registration Application
• Completed Home Occupation Permit Application
• Completed Home Occupation Fire Inspection Criteria Form

All applicable licensing or other permits needed for the business (i.e. State issued licenses, permits, etc.)

Additional Fee - $67.00 one-time fee for home occupation permit

*Completed Business Registration application & Home Occupation Permit application must be signed off by the Development Services Department in Rio Rancho City Hall, room 130, prior to issuing a registration.

An established business not located within the municipal limits of the City of Rio Rancho.

• All applicable licensing or permits needed for the business (i.e. State issued licenses, permits, etc.)
