The Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue Department and Rio Rancho Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers will host free CPR classes in conjunction with the New Mexico Heart Institute’s Project Heart Start. The classes, which last approximately 40 minutes, will be held at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 at the Sabana Grande Recreation Center. Classes are first-come, first-served.Project Heart Start involves participants watching a short video and then practicing what they have learned on CPR manikins.

A special public ceremony will take place to recognize the 70th Anniversary of D-Day and the Normandy, France landings during World War II. The ceremony will feature several guest speakers and presentations. The event is sponsored by Chapter 176 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart with coordination provided by the Rio Rancho Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.
