  9. Great American Cleanup Kickoff Party

    The City of Rio Rancho’s Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful Division (KRRB) is holding its annual Great American Cleanup Registration Kickoff Party on Saturday, April 4, 2015, from 11am – 1pm at Otero's Dairy Queen. While supplies last, free root beer floats will be available to those who register to participate in the City’s May 2, 2015, Great American Cleanup event. This year, volunteers who register on April 4, will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win “A Day in Rio Rancho”, which includes brunch for 4 and Premier Cinema of Rio Rancho matinee movie tickets for 4. Participants must be present to win.

  17. Bookworms Book Club: The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan

    Timothy Egan follows a half-dozen families and their communities through the rise and fall of the region, going from sod houses to new framed houses. He chronicles their desperate attempts to carry on through blinding black blizzards, crop failure, and the death of loved ones. Egan tells a story of endurance and heroism against the backdrop of the Great Depression.

  24. City Hall Hosting Rio Rancho Public Schools Senior Art Show Rising Stars

    April 9, 8:00 AM - April 28, 5:00 PM @ Rio Rancho City Hall

    The annual Rio Rancho Public Schools art show, Rising Stars, will take place on the third floor of Rio Rancho City Hall from April 9-28. Regular viewing hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The artwork on display is from high school seniors at various Rio Rancho Public Schools. A free, public reception with refreshments will be held on Friday, April 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the third floor of City Hall. During the reception, starting at 5 p.m., awards will be presented to students featured in the art show. Participation in the art show was open to all students in the class of 2015. The show is judged by guest artists and the awards are sponsored by the Rio Rancho Art Association and the New Mexico Art Education Association. As part of their membership requirement, National Art Honor Society (NAHS) students will also have their art featured in the Rising Stars show. The induction ceremony for these students will take place on April 17 at approximately 5:30

    Lee Smith has blended fact and fiction in a story featuring Zelda Fitzgerald. It is 1936 when orphaned 13 year old Evalina Toussaint is admitted to Highland Hospital, a mental institution in Asheville, North Carolina, known for its innovative treatments for nervous disorders and addictions. There she makes friends with Zelda until in 1948 a tragic fire kills nine women in a locked ward, Zelda among them.
