    September 23, 6:00 PM @ Rio Rancho City Hall, Governing Body Chambers

    Regular meetings take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Rio Rancho City Hall. Meetings are streamed on the city's Web site and broadcast on Rio Vision, the city's government cable channel available to Rio Rancho Cable One subscribers. The September 23, 2014 meeting has been canceled.

    September 24, 6:00 PM @ Rio Rancho City Hall, Governing Body Chambers

    Regular Governing Body meetings take place on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Meetings are streamed on the city's Web site and broadcasted on the city's government cable channel RioVision (available to Rio Rancho Cable One subscribers).

  3. Mayor Hull Town Hall Mtg.

    September 25, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ Mesa Baptist Church

    Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull is holding his first town hall meeting. Over the next 12 months, Mayor Hull will hold a town hall meeting in each of the six City Council Districts. The mayor’s Sept. 25 meeting is taking place in District 5, and City Councilor Shelby Smith is participating in the meeting. “I invite residents to attend this meeting in order to have a dialogue about community issues and those which are unique to District 5,” Mayor Hull said. “These town hall meetings are intended to create venues where citizens and its local government can share information and collaborate in a positive manner.”

  4. Pumpkin Patch

    September 27 - October 31 @ Santa Ana Star Center, upper west parking lot

    The Galloping Grace Youth Ranch’s Pumpkin Patch will run from Sept. 27 to Oct. 31, 2014. The hours of operation are Tuesday –Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; open Monday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and closing at 4 p.m. on Oct. 31.

  5. Tour de Pumpkin

    September 27, 7:30 AM @ Loma Colorado Park

    A biking event traveling throughout Rio Rancho. Event options include: Family Ride -10 miles, short Rio Rancho Tour – 25 miles, and full Rio Rancho Tour – 40 miles. The cost to participate in the event is $10 for adults and $5 for riders under the age of 18. Registration after Sept. 20 will be an additional $2 per rider. Preregistration is encouraged.

  6. Coping with Anxiety

    September 27, 10:00 AM @ Esther Bone Memorial Library

    Esther - Clinical psychologists Dr. Laura Smith and Dr. Charles Elliott will be speaking about methods for handling anxiety. The authors have written several self-improvement books in the For Dummies series including, Overcoming Anxiety for Dummies, Depression for Dummies, Seasonal Affective Disorder for Dummies, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder for Dummies and others titles not in the series on psychology and parenting.

  7. Drug Take-Back Event

    September 27, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Police Department Headquarters

    The Rio Rancho Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Please bring your medications for disposal. The service is free and anonymous. The take-back program addresses a vital public safety and public health issue as medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse.

  8. Mad About Music: Folk Music from Around the World

    September 27, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM @ Loma Colorado Main Library Auditorium

    Loma - Mad about Music is an international folk music group of Albuquerque string players ranging in age from 9-18 years. As a veritable touring group, Mad about Music has played in venues throughout the United States, most recently in Houston and Galveston. The group is currently co-directed by Susan Kempter, its founder, and Laurie Lopez. It is based out of the University of New Mexico Suzuki Lab School. Be prepared for an eye-opening world tour of traditional folk music performed with youthful exuberance and vitality.

  9. Night Under the Stars Event

    September 27, 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM @ Rainbow Park Observatory

    A special event will take place at the Rio Rancho Rainbow Park Observatory consisting of: 8 p.m. – Guest speaker Dr. Harrison Schmitt, Apollo 17 Astronaut who walked on the moon 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. – Sun and stargaze using telescopes (weather permitting) 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Silent auction 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Pizza and soda The event is coordinated and sponsored by the Rio Rancho Astronomical Society (RRAS), a 501c3 organization.
