  1. RR Public Schools Senior Art Show

    March 27, 8:00 AM - April 22, 5:00 PM @ Rio Rancho City Hall

    The annual Rio Rancho Public Schools Senior Art Show ‘Rising Stars’ is taking place on the third and fourth floors of Rio Rancho City Hall from March 27-April 22. Artwork from seniors at Rio Rancho and Cleveland high schools and the Cyber Academy will be on exhibit as part of the show. A reception will be held on April 4 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the third floor of City Hall. During the reception at 6 p.m., awards will be presented to students featured in the exhibit. At the free reception refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend. National Art Honor Society students will also have their art on exhibit from March 27 through April 22 on the fourth floor of City Hall as part of their membership requirement.

  2. Earth Day Celebration

    To mark the 44th anniversary of the first Earth Day, the city of Rio Rancho invites citizens of all ages to a free celebration. The event will feature various displays with Earth Day themes as well as: •Activities for children including story time with library staff •See how a Waste Management recycling truck works •Learn more about landfill operations •Recycling information •See a model of how an aquifer works •Learn more about fixing leaks at your home and conserving water to lower your monthly water bill by visiting with staff from the city’s Water Conservation Office •Special appearance by the Corrales Tractor Club In addition, O’tero’s Dairy Queen will give away free Dilly Bars, while supplies last, to those attending the celebration.

  5. Parks & Rec. Commission Mtg.

    April 21, 6:00 PM @ 3200 Civic Center

    Regular meetings take place on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Rio Rancho City Hall. Meetings are streamed on the city's Web site and broadcast on Rio Vision, the city's government cable channel available to Rio Rancho Cable One subscribers. The meeting on April 21, 2014, will take place in the Overflow Room of Rio Rancho City Hall. As such, there will be no live or archived streaming of the meeting on the city's Web site, or broadcast on Rio Vision (available to Cable One subscribers in Rio Rancho). The venue change from the Governing Body Chambers to the Overflow Room is to allow for the Governing Body Chambers to be used for a new elected official swearing-in ceremony.

  7. The Lonnie Zamora Socorro UFO Incident, 1964: A Talk by Paul Harden

    April 21, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Loma Colorado Main Library Auditorium

    Loma - Socorro police officer Lonnie Zamora reported having a close encounter of the third kind with an unidentified craft on Friday, April 24, 1964. This UFO case is one of the most famous and best-documented. Paul Harden will present an illustrated talk about the incident and his research, which he conducted with Zamora's assistance. Funded by Historical Society of New Mexico.
