Traffic Update
This page contains information on lane restrictions that may be present during road construction in the City of Rio Rancho.  Information will be updated on this page as it becomes available. Motorists traveling within construction zones are urged to drive with caution and observe traffic control devices. Remember to always wear your seat belt and drive the speed limit.

Current Road Construction:

  • Go Bond Small.jpg High Resort Boulevard:  Work for the High Resort Boulevard Project will be typically from 7:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and weekends and evening hours as needed.  This project features road reconstruction which includes: removing the deteriorating pavement and replacing it with new pavement with a life span of 20 years, removing deteriorating sections of curb and gutter and replacing it with new curb and gutter, updating the current curb ramps to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, replacing the existing sidewalk and asphalt multi-use path with new infrastructure, installing a new potable water line, installing a new recycled water line, and manholes.  There will be various lane and road closures to allow for the construction.  Residents in the area will have entry and exit access to and from their homes.

  • Industrial Park:  Work for the Industrial Park Sewer Improvements project will be from 7:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and weekends as needed.  This project includes the installation of a new sewer line below Frontage Road and Industrial Park Place, which means that traffic barricades will be up on a constant basis until work is complete.  There will be various lane closures to allow for the construction.
    • Construction is from December 12, 2016 - March 2017.
    • Notice: The intersection of Frontage Road and Industrial Park Loop will be closed beginning December 12, 2016 for construction.  Detour routes will be in place to access area businesses.  Drivers are advised to follow all construction signs and detours and to watch for trucks and construction workers.

New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) State Highway Construction:

  • NM 528 Frontage Road at Industrial Park Loop:  The intersection and various lanes will be closed on the NM 528 Frontage Road and Industrial Park Loop for Industrial Park Sewer Project.
    • Closure from December 12, 2016 - March 2017.

  • NM 528 at High Resort Boulevard:  The left turn bay and right turn lane closed from NM 528 to High Resort Boulevard for High Resort Boulevard Project.
    • Closure from November 28, 2016 - February 28, 2017.

  • Key:
    • Blue is fast (above the speed limit)
    • Green is normal (around the speed limit)
    • Yellow is below normal (below the speed limit)
    • Orange is slow (significantly below the speed limit)
    • Red is extremely slow (traffic is at a crawl)
