News Release Issued by Sandoval Economic Alliance on July 3, 2014
The Sandoval Economic Alliance, Inc., has been established as a new, private not-for-profit economic development organization focused on bringing new jobs to all communities within the county, including the City of Rio Rancho.
The Sandoval Economic Alliance will specifically work on:•Adding economic base jobs•Attracting new businesses and industries, including retail•Retention and expansion of existing businesses•Supporting entrepreneurship•Working with other entities-including local, county and state government and business-and development-related organizations-to enhance and diversify the region's economy
The Sandoval Economic Alliance will build upon the job-creation framework developed by the Rio Rancho Economic Development Corporation (RREDC), which ceased operations on June 30, 2014. Before disbanding, the RREDC's Board of Directors voted to transfer all of its assets and intellectual property to the Sandoval Economic Alliance.

The Board has established by-laws and appointed Joe Sierra with Century Bank as chairperson.The Board is still seeking additional members. Those interested should call the Sandoval Economic Alliance at (505) 891-4305.
"I and the other members of the Board are excited about the opportunity to work with county and city government leaders and the private sector to grow the economy," said Joe Sierra, Sandoval Economic Alliance Board Chairperson.
The Board is in the process of recruiting and hiring a President/CEO for the Sandoval Economic Alliance.
Funding support for the Sandoval Economic Alliance is anticipated to come from local governments within Sandoval County and the private sector. Both the City of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County have budgeted $200,000 in their current fiscal year budgets to support a new regional economic development entity.

That's why we enthusiastically support formation of the Sandoval Economic Alliance," said Darryl Madalena, Chairman of the Sandoval County Commission. "By focusing on job creation throughout the county, this alliance will boost the economy of the entire region, which will benefit residents of both our urban and rural communities."

"I believe that the creation of this new organization which will operate through partnership and collaboration is exactly what Rio Rancho needs in order to achieve our goals."

"I want to thank all of those involved over the last year that helped bring about this positive change for the City of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County," said Alonzo Clayton, Rio Rancho Deputy Mayor and District 6 City Councilor. "Having an entity in place pursuing both economic base jobs as well as retail for the community is necessary for economic stability."
