Members of the community can register now for the city of Rio Rancho’s Great American Cleanup event taking place on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 8 a.m. to noon. The event is ideal for schools, businesses, civic groups, neighborhood associations, service organizations, and individuals wanting to volunteer and improve their community. Activities will include cleaning trash and debris from public lands, road right-of way, and parks throughout the city. Following cleanup work, a thank you party for volunteers will take place at Haynes Park featuring refreshments and giveaways.

On Saturday, May 3, Rio Rancho’s Loma Colorado and Esther Bone public libraries, Free Comic Book Day will be celebrated, courtesy of Astro-Zombies Comic Shop.
Starting at 10 a.m., come to either library and get a free comic book while supplies last.This is an all-ages event and there will be comics covering all genres.
Free Comic Book Day is a single day - the first Saturday in May each year - when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books free to anyone who comes into their stores.Rio Rancho’s Library and Information Services Division has partnered with Astro-Zombies Comic Shop, 3100 Central Ave. in Albuquerque, for this event.

In celebration of Older American’s Month, the Meadowlark Senior Center will host its Annual Art Exhibition. The works of the many talented artists from the center will be presented.Painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry and much more will be on display.A silent auction will also be held during the exhibition.The items being auctioned are all donations from the artists displaying their work.Bring friends and family and enjoy a day of art.Admission is free!
